Texas overcame a clunky start with a 38-7 win over San Jose State on Saturday
Texas was flagged 12 times for 115 yards, and a lot of those flags wiped out big plays throughout the game. The Longhorns were 2-for-12 on third down, and they didn’t have a touchdown from a running back for the second consecutive game.
Arch Manning finished 19-for-30 with 295 passing yards and four touchdowns, but he threw an interception into double coverage with a defender in his face during the second half, something head coach Steve Sarkisian said he’ll “learn from moving forward.”
“Sometimes it’s better to wave the white flag and take a sack,” Sarkisian said.
Manning added a 20-yard scramble for a touchdown in the second half.
