Guilty plea to theft charges entered

A man charged with stealing three complete tool sets from a local business appeared during a session of Baxter County Circuit Court August 25.
Thirty-eight-year-old Timothy Vernon Franklin, who lists an address in Mountain Home, entered a guilty plea to theft of property charges.

He was put on probation for three years and ordered to pay more than $500 in victim restitution.

According to the probable cause affidavit, Franklin was seen on surveillance video entering the store in early December last year.

He is reported to have gotten a shopping cart and headed for the tool department where he is alleged to have taken several large tool sets and put them into his cart.

He then passed all points where he could pay for the tools and left the store. A silver pickup truck was waiting.

Franklin loaded the merchandise into the truck, entered the vehicle and left the property.

Asset protection staff members at the store were able to extract a facial image of the suspect. A Mountain Home police officer who had dealt with Franklin on occasion was able to identify him.

Franklin’s physical appearance also helped with the positive identification. He is 6′ 6” tall and weighs 225 pounds.
