LSP Troop G said 34-year-old Zapien German of Carthage, Texas, was killed in a two-vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 169. Crash investigators determined that a 2025 Mack Pinnacle was traveling south on Hwy 169, approaching the intersection of Louisiana Highway 172. Simultaneously, a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by German, was traveling east on Hwy 172 approaching Hwy 196.
The Mack truck traveled into the intersection and collided with the Chevrolet. German was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Mack truck was not injured and was wearing a seatbelt.
Impairment is not suspected, but routine toxicology tests were ordered.
