Ballinger man dies in Runnels County crash

RUNNELS COUNTY, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – A crash claimed the life of a Ballinger man Saturday night in Runnels County.

At about 8:35 p.m., crews responded to a crash on County Road 287, roughly seven miles west of Ballinger.

According to investigators, a westbound truck veered partially off the roadway for unknown reasons. The driver overcorrected, sending the vehicle skidding through a ditch. When the driver steered left in an attempt to regain control, the truck overturned in an open field.

The driver, identified as 33-year-old Anthony Miguel Leija, was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Road conditions were reported as clear and dry.
