An 11-year-old girl who was hit by a vehicle while riding her bike has died from her injuries, authorities say.

On Friday at 5:10 p.m., the Carlton County Sheriff’s Office received a report that a child was hit by a pickup truck near the intersection of Broadway Street and Crestwood Drive in Wrenshall.

Multiple law enforcement agencies responded to the scene and provided life-saving measures before she was flown to Children’s Hospital in Minneapolis.

Deputies learned that the girl had been riding her bike on Broadway Street when she was hit by a vehicle.

The driver of the truck, a 49-year-old man from South Carolina, showed no signs of impairment and cooperated with law enforcement.

In an update Saturday, the sheriff’s office said that the girl, 11-year-old Avery Anderson from Wrenshall, died from her injuries.
