
The Baxter County Fair opens Tuesday, September 9, with festivities beginning over the weekend.
A truck pull is scheduled for Friday evening at 7, at the new track south of the fairgrounds. Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for students, and free for children under 5. Pit passes are available for $15.
KTLO News spoke with fair board member, Brad Goeke who shares his favorite parts about the truck pull.

The Baxter County Fair Parade will take place Saturday at 10, with this year’s theme “Educate and Celebrate.” The parade will begin at Long Chiropractic, 506 Hospital Drive, and will be led by the Baxter County Fair Queen.
Participants must be in line for judging by 9:45, though no pre-registration is required. Floats will be judged in two categories – Business/Civic and Religious – with cash prizes of $100 for first place and $50 for second. Political floats will be for exhibition only, while horses, bicycles, and children’s dress-up entries will not be judged.
Marching bands will line up by 1st Security Bank on Highway 5 North and Hospital Drive. Organizers advise parents dropping off children to meet their groups in advance at Highway 178 and Buttercup Road near Cardiovascular Associates.
Throwing candy is allowed, though organizers ask participants to use discretion to ensure safety.
