The closure will allow crews to remove deteriorated asphalt and replace it with new concrete pavement, according to a news release.
The project also includes base reconstruction and new asphalt surfacing along East Fifth Street from Royal Street to just north of Bienville Street, a section of Woodyard Drive from South Drive to Ouida Drive, and a short segment of Highland Park Drive near Virginia Avenue. Apeck Construction, LLC, of Anacoco, Louisiana, is the contractor for the work.
Motorists are urged to use caution, obey warning signs, and follow flagger instructions near the work zone. According to a news release, “Road Closed Ahead” signs have been posted at Keyser Avenue, South Drive, Royal Street, and Isadore Street. Drivers are advised not to cut through nearby parking lots, as detours are available one to two blocks in any direction.
