That’s why owner Marty Magill decided to dedicate one of the main sitting areas in the bar to the team and its fans.
“We love it,” Stephanie Ayton, who works at Quincy’s, said. “I love it. We were excited when we came in. I came in last Tuesday, and it was all painted burgundy and gold.”
Ayton is a big-time Commanders fan. She says the atmosphere at Quincy’s on Sundays during the NFL season is unlike any other.
“It’s crazy,” she said. “It’s definitely busy. Definitely people rooting for the Commanders.”
Because they have so many people rooting for the burgundy and gold, it gave Magill an idea.
“Last year, we painted the bar in the Philadelphia Eagles’ colors for the Super Bowl. I happen to be an Eagles fan, but politically correct when I’m in the bar here. So, we decided to surprise our customers with painting the lounge here in the Commanders’ colors. Then, my general manager decided to call it the Commanders Corner,” he said.
With Washington’s recent success, Magill expects the Commanders Corner to be a huge hit this season.
“I think it’s going to bring in some new faces just to see what we did,” he said. “It’s definitely created a little bit of a buzz.”
Commanders fan Wayne Johnson thinks so, too.
“Once the word gets spread, people will want to come over and sit in this area. I think it’ll draw people to this side as opposed to out in the general dining room or the bar itself,” Johnson said.
