Officers say the armed robbery unfolded just after 1 a.m. Saturday in the 1100 block of South Ashland Avenue, in Morgan Park.
According to police, the victim, a 34-year-old man, was standing outside in the area when two armed males approached on foot.
Officers said the thieves then demanded the victim’s belongings, but he refused and attempted to walk away.
But police say as the victim began walking, one of the offenders opened fire in his direction, striking him in the hip and thigh.
They then stole the victim’s belongings and fled the scene on foot. The victim was later hospitalized in good condition.
Authorities say no arrests have been made in connection with the robbery and an investigation is now underway.
