Just after 11 a.m. on Sept. 5, Fleming County Schools announced on Facebook that Lindsey Marshal, a “bright and beautiful” seventh-grade student, had passed away.
School leaders said Lindsey was full of life, a loyal friend to many, and a cheerleader whose energy and smile lifted others wherever she went.
“As a parent, I cannot begin to imagine the grief her parents, grandparents, and family are enduring,” Superintendent Brian Creaseman said in Friday’s announcement. “Our hearts also ache for her friends at Ewing Elementary, Simons Middle, and Fleming County High School. Friendships built in school create a special bond, and we know her classmates and teammates are struggling to understand this unimaginable tragedy.”
District officials wrote that counselors would be available to support students, staff, and families affected by Marshall’s passing.
“If you or your child need someone to talk with, please do not hesitate to reach out to our counselors or staff,” Superintendent Creaseman said. “Together, we will walk through this loss and surround Lindsey’s family and friends with love, prayers, and support.”
