What is the best city in Texas for football fans?

(NEXSTAR) — Football season is officially underway, and there arguably isn’t a state more in love with the sport than the state of Texas.

A new study from WalletHub ranked the best and worst cities for football fans across the entire country, and out of the 250 cities they examined, 20 of them were located in the Lone Star State.

To determine which cities were best for football fans, WalletHub examined various metrics, including the presence of professional and college football teams, as well as the success of those teams. The engagement of fans for their teams in each of these cities also played a role in determining the ranking.

Landing at the top for the state of Texas, as well as No. 2 for the entire country, was Dallas, home of the Cowboys. As the most valuable sports franchise in the world worth $10.1 billion, Cowboys fans make up arguably the largest fan base in the entire NFL.

Just below Dallas in the rankings is the home of Texas’ other NFL team, the Houston Texans. Ranked as the second-best city for football fans in Texas and 26th in the country, Houston is also helped by their local college football team, the University of Houston Cougars.
