Levity analyzed Google Search Trends across the 100 largest U.S. cities and conducted a national survey of over 1,000 Americans to gather data on GLP-1 drug interest and usage.
The study also found that only 1 in 5 Americans say GLP-1 medications have influenced their view of what constitutes a ‘normal’ or ‘healthy’ body. Additionally, 14% of respondents now believe more body types can be healthy, while just 6% continue to view leaner bodies as the standard.
Austin, Texas, ranked 18th in GLP-1 related searches per 100,000 residents over the past year, with Dallas, Arlington, and Houston also among the cities with the highest search volumes.
El Paso experienced the largest increase in GLP-1 related searches, with a 22% rise over the last year, followed by San Antonio at 17% and Arlington at 9%.
The survey revealed that 13% of respondents have tried a GLP-1 medication, and 37% reported that someone close to them had used these drugs.
Gen Z respondents were identified as the demographic most likely to have used GLP-1 medications.
