Texarkana College foundation recives $25,000 donation
TEXARKANA, Texas. (KTAL/KMSS) – The Council for Regional Health Education has donated $25,000 to the Texarkana College Foundation to support the Jean and Herbert Wren Endowed Fund for Nursing Scholarships.
The contribution honors the late Dr. Herbert Wren and his wife, Jean. Dr. Wren served as director of the Area Health Education Center from 1987 to 1995.
“It is very important to our board to give back to education in our community,” said Mayor Bob Bruggeman in a news release. “We know that receiving a scholarship can change the course of a student’s life.”
Texarkana College President Dr. Jason Smith accepted the donation on behalf of the foundation. “We are so grateful to the Council for Regional Health Education for helping promote higher education in our community by providing scholarship funds,” Smith said in a news release. “Today’s gift will help even more students achieve their dreams and reach their full potential.”
