Saints story time! Legend Archie Manning reads book to kids at Manning Family Childrens
The family patriarch and legendary Saints quarterback Archie Manning visited the kids on Friday and read the book “Family Huddle” to them.
The little “Who Dat’s” at Manning Family Children’s Hospital are thrilled to meet all-star Saints legend Manning.
Manning read the book “Family Huddle” that his sons Cooper, Eli, and Peyton wrote.
“A book that the kids wrote about going to their grandparents’ house in Mississippi and the games they played,” Manning said.
He went on to say, “I think the book was released back in 2009, and it was a popular book back then, and now with our involvement at Manning Family Children’s Hospital we re-ordered it and got the books back in circulation.”
Reading this book to these kids is making him reminisce about his own kids.
“I would stand up on the front porch at our house in the big part of the yard and I’d throw the ball out in front of them, and they would dive to make the catch,” he fondly remembers.
Helping the little “Who Dat’s” feel the Saints spirit is what it’s all about.
“We got some big smiles here and that’s the most important. We had a good little crowd and I told them that I made a big mistake for a 76-year-old man to show up without glasses to read, but I got through it without my glasses, and we had a great day,” Manning said.
Manning also autographed copies of “Family Huddle” for all the kids.
Illustrations in “Family Huddle” are by Jim Madsen.
