Ronnie Woo Woo to make Wrigley Field return Sunday
The Pearl of Evanston, where Ronnie has been staying for months with pulmonary fibrosis, is pulling off something pretty special for him.
Owner Eitan Zeffren purchased a suite for Ronnie, his daughter, his caretaker Janet and 30 staff members to attend the 1:20 p.m. game against the Washington Nationals.
Administrator Mark Hocuk said the donation of a battery-powered oxygen concentrator was essential because Ronnie is still required to be on oxygen 24/7.
WGN News spent time with Ronnie back in April where he told his story on how he became a Cubs legend and how his iconic “wooing” came to be.
“I’ll get (to Wrigley) again. I will get there again,” Ronnie said back in April. “You got to crawl before you walk and take your time. With God’s sprit, it will be okay.”
Several Cubs fans have sent Ronnie cards of well wishes as he gets ready to see his North Siders down the stretch in a pennant race.
The Cubs enter Friday 80-60 and are 5.5 games back of Milwaukee for first place. Hopefully, Ronnie will bring the club luck Sunday as he watches a potential sweep of Washington.
