On Thursday, Sept. 4, Michael Hall, 48, pleaded guilty to one count of intimidating a participant in the legal process.
Charges filed in Rowan Circuit Court show that in October 2023, Hall was recorded during a jail phone call making threats toward Rowan County Commonwealth Attorney Ashton McKenzie.
McKenzie was prosecuting Hall on multiple violent allegations, including assault, attempted murder, and strangulation, the attorney’s office announced. Court documents show that Hall admitted the threats were made to influence his case.
According to his plea agreement, it is recommended that Hall serve a two-year prison sentence to run alongside the sentence in his original case.
“The Office of the Attorney General will protect those fine prosecutors who protect Kentucky families,” Attorney General Russell Coleman said. “There will be zero tolerance for those attempting to tamper with justice and threaten our public servants who administer the rule of law.”
