Jtown Pizza cited “financial hardships” as the main reason for closure. Although it said the closure is indefinite, the business did not appear to indicate any plans to reopen Jtown Pizza elsewhere.
“This decision was not made lightly. Despite our best efforts, ongoing financial hardships have made it impossible for Dipsomania Inc. to continue Jtown Pizza’s operations,” the pizzeria’s owner wrote in part. “While Jtown Pizza’s chapter is closing, we hope to continue the friendships and connections we’ve built with you at our (other establishments)…”
Jtown Pizza first opened in 2019 by owners Rina and Jordan. Their business, Dipsomania Inc., owns other San Jose establishments, including Jack’s, 7 Bamboo Lounge and Spread.
Former San Jose Councilmember Raul Parelez started a GoFundMe to raise proceeds that, he says, will 100% go to Rina and Jordan. Parelez hopes the proceeds will help the couple’s other businesses. The GoFundMe has since raised more than $31,000.
