(FOX40.COM) — A former deputy in Northern California was sentenced to nine years in prison after he was found guilty of sexually abusing his daughter, according to the Stanislaus County District Attorney’s Office.

District Attorney Jeff Laugero announced that Judge Mangar sentenced Matthew Dessert, a former deputy with the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office, to 9 years in prison after a jury found him guilty of sexually abusing his daughter over the course of eight years.

In addition to his prison sentence, Dessert is subject to a 10-year parole term and is required to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life, according to the DA.
