LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) —
The Ragin’ Cajuns Downtown Alive event kicks off tonight, featuring a charity drive to support
UL Lafayette students.
In partnership with Downtown Lafayette Unlimited, the event will collect donations of professional clothing to benefit the university’s Career Closet.
“We are taking any kind of professional clothing,” said Kim Billeaudeau, Director of Career Services at UL Lafayette. “So that’s, you know, suits, jackets, blazers, slacks, dresses, skirts, um, and then shoes, as well as ties.”
The Career Closet initiative aims to provide UL Lafayette students with professional attire necessary for job interviews and career opportunities. Students can shop the Career Closet starting next week from Monday to Thursday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Kim Billeaudeau emphasized the importance of looking professional and noted that the university also offers services such as resume preparation and mock interviews to help students in their job search.
Donations can be easily made at the Downtown Lafayette Unlimited tent during the Downtown Alive event.
Billeaudeau expressed excitement about the partnership, highlighting it as a great way for the community to support local students.
The event not only promises an evening of music and fun but also provides a valuable opportunity for the community to contribute to the future success of UL Lafayette students.
