The Arkansas Department of Health has issued a precautionary boil order for customers of the Lakeview-Midway Public Water Authority following a main break that caused a loss of pressure in the system.

The order, issued Wednesday, affects connections along Glen Oak Drive, Blackberry Lane, Lakeview Drive, Jordan Lane, Lakeview Vista, Glencove Place, Glencove Circle, Wild Rose Drive, Holly Drive, Valley View Drive, Dogwood Drive and Edgewood Bay Drive.

Health officials said the order was issued as a precaution because contaminated water may have entered the system. Customers are advised that water may be unsafe for consumption and should be boiled briskly for at least one minute before drinking or using in food preparation. Ice made from tap water should be discarded.

The order will remain in effect until the problem is resolved, disinfectant levels are restored, and a bacteriological survey confirms the water is safe to drink, according to the department.
