CHICAGO — A Chicago woman accused of shooting another woman in the stomach during an argument at a South Side home is now facing felony charges.
Jelavonni Gage, a 26-year-old Chicago resident who lives in the area where the shooting occurred, has been charged with one felony count of attempted first-degree murder and one felony count of aggravated battery with the use of a deadly weapon.
Authorities say the charges against Gage stem from her alleged involvement in a shooting that unfolded inside the South Side home early Tuesday morning.
According to Chicago police, the shooting unfolded just before 7:30 a.m. at the home located in the 8100 block of South Maryland Avenue in Chatham.

Officers said Gage and the victim, a 35-year-old woman whom she knows, got into an argument inside the residence.
Amid the argument, officers said Gage allegedly pulled out a gun and shot the victim in her stomach.
The victim was later hospitalized in critical condition.
Gage was taken into custody in connection with the incident about 20 minutes after it allegedly unfolded.
It is unclear how the victim and the suspect knew each other or what led up to the argument.
Gage appeared in court for a detention hearing on Friday.
