The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced on Sept. 5 that Jessie Lord Bakery, LLC based out of Torrance, California is voluntarily recalling a little over 136,200 cases of pie. The FDA reports the recall was issued as the pies contain “undeclared Yellow #5.”
The recalled pies were sold at retail stores in Alabama, Arizona, California, Connecticut, Kansas, Louisiana, Michigan, Missouri, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and Wisconsin, according to the FDA. The recall impacts 8″ round lemon meringue pies that have a net weight of 27 ounces including lots 24050-25231 that bear the “best by” date of Feb. 19, 2027.
The FDA classified this recall as a “Class II” recall. The agency defines this type of recall as the following:
“Class II recall: a situation in which use of or exposure to a violative product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences or where the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote.”
