Victim shot in stomach in freeway shooting on I-880 in Oakland: CHP

(KRON) — One person was taken to the hospital after they were injured in a freeway shooting on Thursday afternoon on I-880 in Oakland, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP). The shooting happened on the southbound lanes, south of 66th Avenue, around 2:45 p.m.

The victim was shot in the stomach and is in the hospital where their condition is unknown at this time, CHP said. No suspect(s) have been arrested at this time.

The southbound lanes of I-880 were shut down at around 3:15 p.m. as authorities searched for evidence in connection to the shooting. As of around 4:25 p.m., all lanes on the roadway had reopened, according to the CHP.
