Trial date set for Bourbon County man accused of killing child’s mother, other man

PARIS, Ky. (FOX 56) — A Carlisle man indicted in connection with the death of 20-year-old Dixieana Brainard and 24-year-old Charles “Chuck” Calloway has been assigned a trial date.

On April 3, court documents show that Christopher Layne Taulbee, 19, allegedly shot Brainard, who was reported to be the mother of his child, in the head before stabbing Calloway and beating him with a baseball bat.

Investigators noted in an arrest warrant that they believed Callaway and Brainard were in a “dating relationship.” On April 9, Taulbee pleaded not guilty to two counts of murder.

Taulbee is lodged at the Woodford County Detention Center. His trial date was set for Aug. 30, 2027.
