Suspect in custody following bomb threat reported at Columbus construction site near Government Center

A call came into 911 dispatch just after 3:30 p.m., according to MCSO Sheriff Greg Countryman.

“We have a suspect in custody,” Countryman told News 3. “He said he had planted a bomb in the Government Center.”

Countryman said it took 15 minutes to take the suspect into custody.

The construction site for the new courthouse next to the government center was evacuated.

Countryman confirmed that the Government Center was not evacuated.

Countryman says they did a proper evaluation and deemed the area as safe.

Gilbane construction company workers were told that they were able to return back into the area after deputies gave an all clear.
