Superstar Dua Lipa visits New Orleans Museum of Art
WGNO’s Kenny Lopez takes us to one of her stops, the New Orleans Museum of Art
“We were so excited that Dua Lipa posted recently about her visit to NOMA,” Lisa Rotondo-McCord, Deputy Director of NOMA said.
“It encourages others to come and see and find those works throughout the galleries. We’re delighted that she actually was both inside and outside the museum and really explored the galleries. Now it is like a scavenger hunt to see what she saw,” Lisa Rotondo-McCord said.
So what art works did Superstar Dua Lipa post on her social media while at NOMA?
“This was created by African Photographer Malick Sidabé, he would be going outside of clubs, dance halls and photograph folks as they were going in and coming out. This work seems to me to have perfect alignment with who Dua Lipa is and what she does, also the music and dance,” she said.
The next painting that Dua Lipa posted a picture of is “Woman In An Arm Chair” by Pablo Picasso.
“Obviously it focuses on a woman, but it focuses on the various aspects and many parts and complexity that make up this woman,” she said.
Dua Lipa also visited the Besthoff Sculpture Garden at NOMA and posted pictures of herself in front of the sculpture of “Three Figures and Four Benches” by George Segal.
“Three Figures and Four Benches are somewhat straightforward. Just individuals waiting, but to me all of them have rich inner lives. I thought this is an evocative space. I think it just resonated with Dua Lipa in some way, the inner lives of these inanimate figures,” she said.
If you look at Dua Lipa’s instagram, you’ll see other photos she posted with her fianceé actor Callum Turner around New Orleans.
Dua Lipa also visited Cafe Du Monde, Frenchmen Street and Preservation Hall.
