Rockford homeless shelter raises funds to address security concerns

“On the third day of my employment here, I unfortunately witnessed an older adult guest of ours assaulted at knife-point,” said Carpenter’s Place Executive Director Alberto Carrion.

He explained that the shelter faces challenges from conflicts that originate on the street and from guests with untreated mental health or substance use issues.
