PennEnvironment Research & Policy Center releases solar schools report

PHILADELPHIA (WPHL) — A new report says Philadelphia schools could save taxpayers almost $20 million if they switch to solar energy.

PennEnvironment Research & Policy Center leaders say installing solar panels in schools can reduce pollution and protect school budgets from high electric bills.

Researchers also say Philadelphia schools could help produce enough energy to power nearly 15,000 homes, and using solar energy would save schools across Pennsylvania an estimated $342 million over the lifetime of the systems.
