Gov. Josh Shapiro, in a statement on X, said he called on the Pennsylvania State Board of Pharmacy to “ensure vaccine access for those most in need, like seniors and those with underlying conditions.”
He said CVS Pharmacy, one of the largest chains in the country, will resume administering vaccines “as soon as possible at locations throughout Pennsylvania.”
Last week, Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., secretary of U.S. Health and Human Services, “made the outrageous decision to limit access to the COVID vaccine and take health care decisions out of the hands of doctors and patients,” Shapiro said.
CVS and Walgreens both said last week that they would only administer the shots with a doctor’s prescription in the state.
