Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office targeted in cyber attack
NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Deputies with the Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office have been targeted in a recent ransomware cyber attack.
OPSO deputies reported that the situation began at 4:30 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 4. Hours later at 8 a.m., the staff reportedly began having issues accessing their computers.

Currently the OPSO IT team is working to correct the issue and restore the system so they can secure their network and determine the origin of the attack.
“We want to make one point absolutely clear: the jail computer system has not been compromised. The jail’s system operates on a separate server and continues to function normally,” said OPSO officials.
