Childhood cancer is the leading cause of death by disease of children in the U.S., yet many of today’s standard treatments were approved three decades ago. However, with newer technology and science, there is the potential for research advancement and increased survivorship, with proper funding. To shine a light on this cause and champion the research breakthrough moments we’ve seen to date, Northwestern Mutual declares Sept. 4, “goldeNMoments™ Day” – timed to Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. goldeNMoments™ Day is a day of national recognition of the stories of resilience, the community impact and the advancements in research or treatments that are lighting the way to a future without childhood cancer. In celebration of this proclamation and to further show our commitment to creating a path towards a future without childhood cancer, the Northwestern Mutual Foundation is pledging $100 to Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation for each financial plan for prospective clients developed during the month of September, to fund childhood cancer research, up to $2 million and 40,000 hours of research.
