Medical emergency causes delays for Red Line, Purple Line riders ahead of rush hour

CHICAGO — Commuters are facing some delays early Tuesday morning after a medical emergency disrupted service for Red Line and Purple Line riders.

According to the CTA, a medical emergency between the Howard and Belmont Red Line stops halted 95th-bound Red Line trains and caused significant delays for Purple Line trains starting around 5:35 a.m.

While all trains are back on the move, both Red and Purple Line trains are currently operating with delays as a result of the incident.

Additionally, Red Line trains are Bypassing Berwyn and it is unclear when service will resume.

To accommodate, the CTA is providing shuttle buses from Howard to Belmont to provide connecting service through the area for Red Line and Purple Line riders.
