According to an arrest citation, just after 7:30 a.m., the employee was chased into the University Tower Apartments after she was forcefully grabbed by 20-year-old Thomas Hood.
University police said the woman called dispatch to the apartment complex after locking herself in the basement. In the citation, the police noted that Hood continued to try and force his way in.
At the scene, the police said they found Hood with a large kitchen knife hidden in his pants.
During an interview with the employee, she told University police that she feared for her life after seeing Hood grab the knife inside his pants.
Witnesses said that Hood followed her into the building, and he was seen hiding under the staircase until they scared him away from the building. He was reportedly seen still in possession of the knife while trying to run away.
Court records show Hood was later arrested and charged with:
FOX affiliate WDRB said his bond is set at $25,000, and he is scheduled to have a court hearing at 9 a.m. on Sept. 10.
