Louisiana fire chief to appear in court, facing battery charges

BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — White Castle Fire Chief John Marque has been issued a misdemeanor summons for simple battery after a volunteer firefighter filed a complaint against him in August.

The victim told officers that during a fire department call on August 11, Chief Marque allegedly grabbed her by her safety vest and held her when she tried to pull away. She said the incident left her emotional and caused her to leave the scene.

Witnesses provided statements supporting her account, according to investigators.

On August 22, 2025, Marque turned himself in to the White Castle Police Department. He was informed of the allegations and issued a misdemeanor summons for simple battery.

Marque has a court date set for September 25, 2025, at 6 p.m.
