Kokomo police arrest man for child solicitation
According to the Kokomo Police Department, an investigation into 26-year-old Malik Salazar was launched on Aug. 31 when a child solicitation incident was reported. The complaint was then turned over to KPD’s Criminal Investigations Section and Indiana Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force.
As the investigation unfolded, detectives soon identified Salazar as their suspect. They also determined that he had previously been convicted of child solicitation in Howard County.
On Sept. 3, detectives executed a search warrant at Salazar’s residence in the 400 block of West Walnut Street to gather possible evidence. The department’s Electronic Storage Detection K9 Gelid, the Howard County Sheriff’s Office and the ICAC Task Force also assisted.
KPD said Salazar was placed under arrest and preliminarily charged with one count of child solicitation, which is a level 4 felony. Online records out of Howard Superior Court 2 show that the court has set Salazar’s bond at $30,000 cash only.
