CHICAGO — Authorities are searching for the thieves who stole an ATM from a Far North Side business during an early-morning smash-and-grab burglary on Thursday.

Chicago police said the incident unfolded just after 2 a.m. at a business in the 4500 block of North Sheridan Road, in Uptown.

Officers were initially called to the scene on a report of a burglary at a retail shop in the area, and when they arrived, they found that the business’s front glass door had been damaged.

Further investigation then revealed that an ATM had also been taken from the store during the apparent smash-and-grab.

Officers said they believe the stolen ATM was loaded onto a red vehicle that fled the scene shortly after getting inside the business.

Authorities say no arrests have been made in connection with the incident and an investigation is now underway.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact CPD Area Three Detectives at 312-744-8263 or dial 911.
