Guilford County Schools released the following statement on Wednesday afternoon:

Law enforcement was called to Northeast High on Tuesday afternoon after administrators and a teacher were injured by two students, who will face school and legal consequences. No other students were involved.

Violence on our campuses against our staff, our students and our law enforcement officers will not be tolerated. We know that our schools are a microcosm of our communities. Solving the issue of violence in schools requires a multi-layered approach and long-term commitment from our community. While there is not one solution to solving the challenges we face, families and communities are encouraged to join us in having courageous conversations and working together to improve the safety of our community.

Administrators say that after the incident, the school day continued.

“It did hamper one classroom, but only one classroom. And that was taken care of. And those students remained there and actually sought to assist getting help for the staff members … We’re very proud of our students who took the right actions as well that day,” Richey said.

He confirmed the assault did not involve a weapon.
