Weston had surgery Wednesday to remove bullet fragment from his neck

A 10-year-old boy is on the road to recovery after undergoing surgery to remove a bullet fragment found in his neck following the mass shooting at Annunciation Church last week.

According to a written statement from the family of Weston Halsne, “The procedure went well, and Weston is expected to make a full physical recovery.”

According to a GoFundMe, the bullet fragment was found dangerously close to Weston’s carotid artery.

Weston was sitting in a pew right next to the stained glass windows where the gunfire erupted. He avoided injury, but previously told 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS he thought he got gunpowder on his neck.

The Halsne family also thanked the community for their prayers for Weston and their continued support.

Weston’s GoFundMe can be found HERE.
