St. Paul’s largest multipurpose arena officially has a new name.

The home of the Minnesota Wild and Minnesota Frost officially changed from Xcel Energy Center to Grand Casino Arena on Wednesday.

Minnesota Sports & Entertainment, which operates the venue, announced the new naming rights sponsor back in June.

The 14-year deal with Grand Casino Mille Lacs and Grand Casino Hinckley means new signage throughout the arena, although the large sign atop the arena won’t be replaced until next week.

Minnesota Sports & Entertainment and Grand Casino are celebrating the name change during a ceremony on Wednesday morning.

Xcel Energy, the arena’s naming rights sponsor since it opened in 2000, says it will continue its relationship with the Wild as a business and community partner.
