(BCN) — A man was killed in Oakland this weekend when his motorcycle collided with a vehicle, police said Tuesday. On Sunday, just after 10:45 p.m., an Oakland resident in his 50s was on his motorcycle in the area of Hegenberger Road and Hamilton Street when a collision occurred.

When officers arrived, they found the solo rider of the motorcycle suffering from severe injuries. First responders attempted emergency medical care, but he was pronounced deceased at the scene.

According to investigators, the motorcyclist was traveling south on Hegenberger Road when he failed to stop at a red light at the intersection of Hamilton Street. His bike then collided with a vehicle that was going west on Hamilton with a green light. It is unknown if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the collision, police said.

The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation, according to police. Paramedic personnel transported a passenger in the vehicle to an area hospital for treatment, where they were last listed in stable condition by the doctor, as of Tuesday evening.

This is an ongoing investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact the OPD Traffic Section at (510)777-8570. Anyone with videos or photos that could assist with the investigation should please send them to cidvideos@oaklandca.gov
