At approximately 6 p.m., members of the Nokomis Area Fire Protection District were notified of an individual trapped in a grain bin at Illinois Route 16 and Ohlman Road in Ohlman. The responding units located a trapped man who was surrounded by corn and could not get himself out.
Other people on scene tried to extricate the man but were unable to do so.
After approximately an hour and a half of moving grain through relief cuts in the bin, the man was removed and transferred to the Nokomis Witt Area Ambulance Service. Then, the man was airlifted to a nearby hospital.
No emergency responders were injured during the rescue, but the condition of the victim is unknown at this time.
