Founded in 1975, LPB has grown from a single station to a six-station network with statewide reach, including its partnership with WLAE-TV in New Orleans. The celebration begins at 6 p.m. with a rebroadcast of Forever LSU, followed by a four-hour special of Why Louisiana Ain’t Mississippi… Or Any Place Else! at 7 p.m.
Throughout its anniversary year, LPB will air new documentaries, archival favorites, and educational programming, including an upcoming series on LSU football legend Billy Cannon and the travel series LA64.
“Fifty years of telling Louisiana’s stories is a milestone we’re proud to celebrate with our viewers who have supported us every step of the way,” said LPB President & CEO Clarence “C.C.” Copeland in a news release. “We could not have reached this moment without the trust of Louisianans, the generosity of our supporters, and the countless stories that unite us.”
