Lt. Col. Anthony L. Garrison relinquished command to Lt. Col. Darby A. Boudreaux, incoming commander. The 199th BSB, headquartered in Alexandria, serves as the primary sustainment element for the 256th Infantry Brigade Combat Team.

Mahfouz praised Garrison’s leadership since taking command in May 2023, commending him for his “quiet servant leadership” and for treating the battalion “like your family.” Under Garrison’s command, the battalion supported state emergency responses and overseas training and deployment missions while maintaining high operational standards. He was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal in recognition of his service.

“It was my privilege and honor to serve as the commander of the 199th BSB during these last two years,” Garrison said. “We created a climate that promotes mutual trust, competence, professionalism and a commitment to excellence.”

Mahfouz also welcomed Boudreaux back to the unit, noting his experience across multiple roles in the National Guard. Boudreaux expressed his gratitude and said he intends to build on the unit’s legacy.

“I am truly honored to serve as the commander of this battalion,” Boudreaux said. “Your attention to detail and technical knowledge will serve me well in command.”

The 199th Brigade Support Battalion, headquartered in Alexandria, provides critical logistical support for the 256th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, including supply distribution, transportation operations, field maintenance and medical services. The unit has played a key role in disaster response, including Hurricane Ida, when it distributed more than 400,000 meals, 800,000 liters of water and 600,000 pounds of ice across New Orleans.
