The Economic Development Committee approved the recommendation again for the proposed $10-million pickleball park in south Shreveport paid for by revenue bonds.
The commission voted to advance it from the work session to Thursday’s regular meeting. The vote passed with eight in support, two in opposition, with two absent.
The public hearing and final vote is now set for September 18.
This is the third time the pickleball proposal has made its way through the parish government process.
Each time, it has been voted back to committee despite the majority of commissioners supporting the proposal.
Commissioners have said the public needs more time to become informed because tax dollars would not be used, instead the bond money would be paid back by patrons visiting the facility.
