BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — September 1, 2025 — The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a man accused of assaulting a woman Friday on the Karst Farm Greenway Trail near Grandview Elementary School, the MCSO said in a press release.
The victim told deputies the suspect is a white male in his mid to late 20s with a skinny build and dark, curly hair styled in a mullet. He was wearing a black T-shirt and black shorts. She reported the man had passed her several times on the trail and, as she rounded a corner near the school, he was stretching. When she walked by, he grabbed her shirt and pulled it over her head, the sheriff’s office said. The victim screamed and the man fled. She then called 911.
According to the sheriff’s office, the drone team launched a UAV and arrived over the victim within three minutes; a deputy reached the scene within five minutes. Deputies and the drone team searched the area for more than an hour but did not locate the suspect.
The investigation is ongoing and is being handled by the MCSO Investigations Unit. The Monroe County Community School Corporation was notified, and Grandview Elementary staff increased exterior monitoring around the school and nearby trail.
Anyone with photos, video, or other information is asked to contact Detective Sgt. Nathan Peach at npeach@co.monroe.in.us
If you see the suspect or have urgent information, call 911 immediately, the MCSO said.
