On Monday, July 7, officers responded to an apartment on the 300 block of Orchard Trace Lane about a call to assist Medic. When they arrived, they found the infant unresponsive. They were taken to a local medical center where they later died, officials said.
Just over one month later, on August 11, detectives were informed that the child died from fentanyl toxicity. On Tuesday, September 2, CMPD arrested the victim’s mother, 35-year-old Hallie Ingram.
She was booked into the Mecklenburg County Jail under a $600,000 bond for murder and felony child abuse.
According to court documents, Ingram took a nap after giving her child a bottle and putting her in a pack-and-play. When she woke up, she found her child unresponsive. Detectives said the presence of fentanyl would have taken effect almost immediately.
There was another child in the apartment at the time of the incident. Their age was not disclosed, nor whether they were affected by the presence of fentanyl or other drugs. The court documents detail that Ingram has a history of trafficking opium and drug possession.
