According to Fox 4 News, NBA Youngboy, also known as Kentrell Gaulden, donated a total of $50,000 to support organizations’ efforts to reduce gun violence: $25,000 to Urban Specialists and $25,000 to Manifest Freedom.
Manifest Freedom is a nonprofit organization that offers fellowship for entrepreneurs and creatives affected by the criminal legal system. Urban Specialists is a nonprofit group that partners with neighborhoods impacted by crime.
“Basically just to help try to stop the crime, a lot of people be getting hurt,” Gaulden told Fox 4 News. “It ain’t really cool at this point to me. So I just want to help in any way I could.”
“Any time you have a megastar like this who is saying, ‘We care about the community enough that we’ll donate to the cause,’ that’s sending messages throughout America,” said a spokesperson for Urban Specialists.
Gaulden started his “MASA” tour in Dallas on Monday, Sept. 1. He is expected to make a stop in his home state of Louisiana on Sunday, Oct. 19, and Monday, Oct. 20, in New Orleans at the Caesars Superdome.
Verified resale tickets for both New Orleans shows are still available on Ticketmaster.
