Panthers announce Young, Brown, Jansen as 2025 captains
CHARLOTTE (CAROLINA SPORTS LIVE) — For the first time since at least 2008, the Panthers will only have three captains for every game.

On Monday, the team announced that quarterback Bryce Young, defensive tackle Derrick Brown and long snapper JJ Jansen were voted on by their teammates. The Panthers said there will also be a rotating weekly captain.

Each of the three captains has been named a captain in the past. This is Young’s third consecutive season and Brown’s second season in a row donning the “C.”

This is Jansen’s third season as a captain, but his first since 2022. Jansen is the Panthers’ all-time leader in games played with 260, which is 41st all-time and second among active players (one game behind Calais Campbell).

The Panthers start their season on the road in Jacksonville against the Jaguars on Sunday, September 7, at 1 p.m.
