Netflix Reveals First Look at Lady Gaga in Wednesday Ahead of Season 2 Part 2

It nearly knocked Wednesday fans’ socks off to find out that none other than Lady Gaga would make a guest appearance on Season 2 of the beloved Netflix show. Now, we’re getting a glimpse of her character before the second part of Season 2 premieres tomorrow.

The series took to social media on September 1 to reveal an image of Gaga in costume, donning a white dress and even featuring Thing, or another disembodied hand similar to Thing, chilling out on her shoulder.

“A vision in venom. Here’s your first look at Lady Gaga as Rosaline Rotwood,” the show’s official X / Twitter account said, below, giving fans Gaga’s character name as well as her expected look.

That said, we don’t know much about Miss Rotwood, other than the rumor that she is a teacher at Nevermore Academy. Considering she wasn’t seen in the first season or the first half of the second season, it’s possible that maybe she’s new to the school or even that she is returning to the school after a long-standing absence. Both of those ideas could be plausible given the story, but either way, it’ll be interesting to see what kind of backstory they give Gaga’s character and to discover how she’ll play into the show’s narrative.

Plus, Gaga is not only appearing on the show, she’s also recording an original song for the series titled “The Dead Dance.” The song is set to be featured in the show sometime in the second half of Season 2 — and fans will even get a music video for the track directed by Tim Burton himself.

It’s clear the folks behind the series want to try to replicate the success of the Wednesday dance trend that blew up online during the first season of the show, and honestly, if you’re going to attempt to strike gold twice, working with Lady Gaga is a great way to maximize the potential for success.

Last week, IGN reported on how Season 2 of Wednesday isn’t seeing the level of success that Season 1 had. Some fans think that the TikTok dance trend that went viral during Season 1 was a major boon to viewership, and since Season 2 doesn’t have its own, it didn’t have that external force to boost numbers.

Others think the decision to release the show — which some of them deem to be a “Halloween show” — in the summer rather than in the fall is a misstep for views. And some think that splitting the eight episode season into two parts is where the show went wrong, even though there is barely a month between both parts airing as the first half premiered on August 6 and the second comes on September 3.

The first half of Wednesday Season 2 is available to stream now on Netflix alongside the complete first season. The second half of Season 2 will be available on September 3.
