JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – The case against a security guard, who was charged in connection to the death of a woman in Jackson, will be presented to the Hinds County grand jury.

On September 2, 2025, Carl Miller waived his preliminary hearing. According to court documents, it appears there was probable cause to believe that an offense was committed and that Miller committed it.

Miller’s case was bound over to await the action of the grand jury. His bond was set at $500,000 for the charge of manslaughter-culpable negligence. Miller was ordered not to possess any weapons and have no contact with the victim’s family.

The shooting occurred at the corner of Siwell Road and Raymond Road just before 4:30 a.m. on June 24, 2025. Police said Deyonia McGee, 22, was shot outside an Auto Care Center, and she died from her injuries.
